Small Engine Tech – Liberty
The John Deere turf technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and scheduled maintenance of turf products such as lawn mowers, John Deere gators and other consumer products. This technician will report to the service manager, and all work shall be completed in a safe, professional, and timely manner. The technician must be able to diagnose the failure mode, using the appropriate technical manual procedures or online computer manuals and special tools. Additionally, the technician must be able to perform complete component removal, disassembly, and reconditioning, following technical procedures.
Responsibilities:
o Performs a high level of service on all makes of John Deere turf equipment
o Perform reconditioning and repair of all machine systems and components
o Coordinates with Service Manager to establish and implement effective processes for all turf services offered through dealership specific service programs
o Report work required with the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer
o Reviews and explains any maintenance, repair or other service concerns with the customer if needed and documents on work order
o Participates in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge as directed by the service manager
o Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
o Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
o Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
o 2+ years of experience performing service repairs
o Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
o Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
o Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of turf equipment
o Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
o Ability to lift at least 50+ lbs. repeatedly
o High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
o Valid driver’s license required
